Beginning Tango at 16 Camino Largo

This is an on-going beginning level class working on close-embrace club-style Tango, otherwise known as "Milonguero-style" Tango. Emphasis is on walking technique, finding a comfortable embrace, lead & follow, rhythm & musicality and simple basic movements that can get you dancing out in the "milongas" (tango dance events) and having fun in a short amount of time. This is a relaxed class where you can begin to explore, practice, and play with the foundational elements of the dance. $13/class. It's a good idea to call, in advance, if you're coming for the first time or haven't been for a while (982-5833).

Private classes available at flexible hours: $75/ hour or $85/couple.

"Follower's Technique for Active Following" at 16 Camino Largo

This class is a chance for you to develop and strengthen those skills you need to become easier and more fun to dance with. We will focus on balance, levity, control, musicality as well as develop more beauty in both legwork, footwork and adornments.  These classes can also be used as a model for practicing at home in the future. All levels are welcomed. This class will be helpful to women dancing any style of tango and is open to the community at large.
This class is offered in sessions - 5-weeks/$65, $15 drop-in. Please call in advance for current dates. (982-5833)

This class is where the Beginning level clients can transition into Intermediate level.  It is also encouraged to continue coming to the Beginning level class for a while after entering into the Intermediate 1 to continue refining the basics plus giving a full two hours of dancing.

Advanced/Intermediate Tango
Advanvced/Intermediate Mondays: 7:00-8:30pm

Classes will be progressive, each Monday will include Tango with part of the class alternating between Vals and Milonga.  In the last few minutes of class we will at times take the material worked on and put to a particular piece of music with choreography for you to continue practicing with.

Intermediate Tango at 16 Camino Largo

This class is designed for those already comfortable with on-body dancing e.g. those who have either taken some of my level I classes and feel really comfortable with the basics or for those who have already had previous tango experience. This is a popular class, where we work on intermediate level "milonguero" elements. Our main aim is to provide you with fun material that is practical, i.e. "milonga-friendly", as well as work on technique that is both functional and beautiful. There is special focus given to the quality of connection which fosters a relaxed and yummy feel throughout the dance while also offering possibilities for dialog between partners. This is a great place for you to explore your own creativity and musicality in the dance. 6-weeks/$75.  Registration required in advance (982-5833). This class is leader/follower balanced. Tango dancers visiting Santa Fe please call if you want to attend while here. Next session beginning January 5th.

Level: Ongoing Beginning/Intermediate Classes.  No previous dance necessary, no dance partner required.
Date and Time: Starting May 7th, every Thursday at 7:30pm.
Location: Moving People Dance, 1583 Pacheco St. Suite A2, Santa Fe, NM.
Price: $12 drop in class, $10 per class if paying for 5 or more classes.
